We were approached to help Meural, who is now “Powered by NETGEAR”, bring awareness to its brand, product, and category by creating a contemporary, timeless brand that strikes an emotional connection with its affluent art enthusiast audience. We created a brand system that reflects the art industry becoming accessible to everyone through their timeless product.
Lead Designer: Myself at Humdinger & Sons
Executive Creative Directors: Nicolas Will
Art Director: Clint Lugert
3D Artist: Dusan Vukcevic
Creative Team: Andrew Horn, Colin Baker, Riley Farrell
We were careful to incorporate elements from their legacy visuals, including their well-loved logo: the letter“M” in the shape of a painter’s palette. By adding variety in the line thickness, we were able to add a more organic, lively mark.
To complete the look, we paired Meural’s new mark with a color palette filled with bronze hues, trading purple for a more refined palette. Meural fits into a larger company that already has design systems and typography established. An additional type, a beautiful serif Cardillac, was carefully selected to reflect the thicks and thins in the mark and would be used for editorial and product usage.
We captured photography and created environmental and detailed product renders as well as messaging.
Digital experiences were taken into consideration and the bronze was tastefully added in places like the app icon and button fills. The secondary type, Cardillac, is introduced in article titles and art libraries regardless of where the Meural brand is seen.
